Walking the walk....

This was the message at church today...
if you are going to talk the talk are you willing to walk the walk?

The last few years have been defining ones to me...
I was raised a Christian, my mom took us to Sunday school classes and I was involved with church as a teenager too. I had a love for Jesus and God, but I was never the one to openly discuss my faith.
When I had Alyssa I suddenly had a desire to know more about God...I needed to know for myself that he was more than just stories in a book. I became more involved in church and surrounded myself with friends that shared the same values.
I am not a perfect Christian...but I do try my best. I love God and I'm not afraid to admit it...I will talk the talk and I will walk the walk!

Saturday Fun...

We had a great day today...despite the 110 degree heat!
A good friend of mine at work is raising her granddaughter and today was her 11th birthday. I was a little hesitant to go at first, the party was at LV Mini Grand Prix...about 90% of the activities are out side. I'm glad we went. Alyssa and Hailey hit it off and became instant friends and Brandon (even though he was only big enough to go on 3 rides) had a blast too.
On top of the party I also managed to do some laundry, run some boxes of winter clothes and baby things to storage and got the van washed and taught my Sunday school class. I felt like I accomplished something!
Jill comes in two days ( a day and a half, if you ask Alyssa) I am so ready to see her and the kids...
Gabriella is making more progress towards crawling...she gets the idea but insists on either rolling everywhere or crying until someone runs to her beckon call. Smart girl!!

Random stuff...

Alyssa's last choir concert was last night. (Do you hear my sigh of relief?!)
We are finally coming into the summer and though my kids go back to school in a few weeks to finish out this school year...we have a break from EVERYTHING else!
I can't tell you how nice it feels to go home after working all day and being able to stay there.

Brandon is at a wrestling camp all day today from 8:30a-2p. Because of his age daddy has to stay with him. No big deal-right?!
Well...we found out about this camp last night at 8pm...Jeff worked all night and got off at 7am...
I scrambled to piece together a sitter for the girls (thanks Grandma and Aunt Julie)
I have to do a quick THANKS to mom...I know I can always count on you and JULIE....I bout passed out when you agreed to keep them when you have to work tonight. THANKS...THANKS...THANKS!!!
This morning I raced around looking for head gear and hats...in the rush of it all I walked out of the house and left the formula...woops!! At least this time I remembered the diaper bag and it had diapers in it! (yes, I have done that before!)This should be a good thing for him. It will help brush up his skills and give him a chance to wrestle some kids his size and not just daddy.

Gabriella claps now. Ok...ok...I am aware that this is more than likely just "big" news in our house...but hey...
she also gives kisses...well, her version of them anyways!

My sister comes in less than a week...YIPPY!!!! I'm SOOO excited!!

I guess that's about the last of it...if you are still reading this...thanks...:)

I have finally come to the terms that my house will never be "model home" clean. It's just not humanly possible...believe me...I have tried!
I spend my weekends cleaning, doing laundry and more cleaning yet it's never the way I want it to be. Tonight I have finally cut myself some slack...I'm going to bed and I'm leaving the left over confetti pieces that Brandon brought home from the circus on the floor...I'm sure they will be there tomorrow for me to clean.

Circus Fun...

Today we took the kids (minus Gabriella- she stayed with Grandma) to the circus. It's been a tradition of ours since Alyssa was 2...we go every year.
As I sat back and watched I realized the circus is much like my everyday life. A million things going on, never quite sure where you should be watching, a lot of chaos but in the end you get a sense of happiness...similar to the end of a busy day at home when the kids are finally asleep and you can sit back and say "today was a good day".
It was a great day, nothing is better than watching your kids happy and excited over a silly clown. I can't wait to continue the tradition...

I do realize this is a blurry picture...but it's the best one I have. Look how much fun Brandon was having!

Random

The kids start track break today...they will be off until July 21st.
Yipee for them!

My sister and her kids are coming in 10 days too. We are planning a trip to California when she is here. It should be a lot of fun, we are hitting Legoland and the beach. My mom and sister Julie are also coming and we always have a lot of fun when we get together. I can't wait to see them. Alyssa and Lexie are already plotting the sleepover schedule, I'm sure we will have plenty of those!

I'm a little sad, we moved Gabriella from her infant seat into a "big girl" car seat yesterday. I don't remember feeling this sad with the other two. I loved her baby seat...I loved how easy it was to plop it on a shopping cart and her stroller...but she's getting bigger...

For the most part everyone is feeling better now. Gabriella still needs breathing treatments before bed...but she has gotten a lot better. Brandon was down all day Tuesday. The house was a crazy calm...but by Wednesday he was back to his normal "monkey" self... (I'll admit, I kinda liked the calm)

I guess that's about all...better get back to work :)

SICK!!

That is the word of the day in our house...and has been for a good week or so.
It started last week with Brandon and Gabriella and continues today with both Brandon and Gabriella.
I stayed home from work yesterday to take Gabriella to the doctors. She had been sick for a week and now had a fever. Brandon seemed fine...
So, three hours later we (Gabriella and I) emerged from the doctors with new medicines and a hope for some relief (and sleep!!!!)
Fast forward...last night at 11:30p. I was finally crawling into bed, I was exhausted and I could feel the cold coming on myself. I just closed my eyes when I was woken up by Brandon and the contents of him tummy. (sorry)
Poor Alyssa, he had been sleeping in bed with her so she got the majority of it...
I think it was 3:30am when I finally got back to sleep and managed to sleep off and on until 5:20 when my alarm went off. Daddy has sick people duty today...
Wonder when the rest of us will get it!

Happy Fathers Day

I don't know where to start...
Jeff is amazing...sure, he can drive me nuts. He is a terrible house keeper...but he is an amazing daddy!
I had no clue when we started this journey of parenthood 10 years ago how things would turn out. I prayed for the best and somehow God gave me better than the best.
Jeff is the kind of dad you see on a "Lifetime Network" movie...really, he is.
He does everything for the kids...he goes to every event without one complaint. He spends his days sleep deprived after working all night because he wants the kids to be cared for by us.
I'd yell it from the top of the world if I could...
I love you Jeff, I respect you for the daddy that you are and I appreciate you more than you will ever know!

8 months old

Poor little thing is not feeling well but she still sat for her crazy mom to take some pictures

She is a "tag" girl. She searches them out and then sucks on them...all I can say is "ET" if you know me...well, no explanation is needed!

Gabriella turned 8 months old today...these months are just flying by.
She is finally rolling around and sitting unassisted. I was starting to think she was NEVER going to do either. Brandon was pulling himself up and cruising at this age. (I'm ok with Gabriella being a bit slower)
She is babbling and doing a lot of the "da-da" talking now too. Her favorite is a high pitch squeal that she can carry for a good amount of time.
She is still such a sweetie...we love her to pieces!

Best of the Big Screen

Brandon picked out these flowers all by himself to give to his sister

At the end of it all...maybe I should start dancing...

That was the name of this years dance show. The kids all danced to songs from all kinds of different movies. It was great and everyone did such a good job. I have to say watching how good those kids are and how talented our dance instructors are really reminds me why we go as far as we do for Alyssa's dance classes.
We're done with dance now until mid August. It's a welcome break...

Alyssa video...

Below is a video clip from the finale of the show. Just in case anyone is not sure Alyssa is the third one from the camera in the red...
I am aware this video clip is not the greatest...but hey...it's better than nothing! Enjoy!

Proud Mama!

So you think you can dance...

I know my Alyssa can! She loves dancing and asks every time she sees "So you think you can dance" advertised when she can try out.
The last big dance show of the year starts tomorrow night. We were able to go to a dress rehearsal tonight and snap some pictures. I was so impressed with this years show! We are so proud of Alyssa...she really is an amazing little girl and we are soo thankful to be her parents!

Moms rule..

I got this email today at work...and had to share it!
I have to admit my hubby already does a great deal of what is on the list...but he has yet to figure out how to do them AND keep the house picked up...we're working on it though, one small step at a time!

SURVIVOR:
Motherhood - Outwit, Outplay, Outlast

Six
married men will
be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each
for six weeks.

Each kid
will play two sports and either take music or dance
classes.

There
is no fast food.

Each man must take care of
his 3 kids; keep
his assigned house clean, correct
all homework, and complete
science projects, cook,do laundry,
and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money.

In
addition, each man will have to budget
in money for groceries each week.

Each
man must remember the
birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send
cards out on time--no emailing.

Each
man must also take each child to a doctor's
appointment,
dentist
appointment and
a haircut
appointment.

He
must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to
the Urgent Care.

He must
also make cookies or cupcakes for
a social function.

Each man will be responsible for d decorating his own
assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it
presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to
television when the kids are asleep and all chores are
done.

The men must shave their legs, wear
makeup daily, adorn
himself with
jewelry, wear
uncomfortable yet stylish
shoes, keep
fingernails polished and eyebrows
groomed.

During one
of the six weeks ,
the men
will have to endure severe abdominal
cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings
but never once complain or slow down from other
duties.

They
must attend weekly school
meetings, church, and
find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a
similar setting.

They will need to read a book to the kids
each night
and in the morning, feed
them, dress
them,brush
their teeth and comb
their hair by 7:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father
will be required to know all of the following information: each
child's birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and
doctor's name. Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of
birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite color, middle
name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy,
biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow
up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance.
The last man wins only if...he
still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a
moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over
again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To be
called Mother!

Almost relaxing...

Alyssa is at a birthday party/sleepover tonight. Usually when she is gone I have a sleepover with Brandon...but tonight he is staying the night with grandma. This is his first sleep over without Alyssa and so far so good. I think I may be having a harder time then he is.
I took advantage of the Brandonless afternoon and did some cleaning. Gabriella has a cold so she required a lot of mommy cuddle time but that was alright with me. I did manage to get the house cleaned and some laundry going so I would say that it was a successful day.
Tomorrow...it's weed pulling and grocery shopping...I know you're jealous!

Am I the only one...

Am I the only one freaked out just a little (ok, a lot) about the rising cost of gas and groceries?!
Last night when I passed the gas station by my house gas was $3.98...this morning it's $4.09!!
I'm trying to look for ways to cut back...but where?
I have decided I will NOT visit a mall until it's time to start stocking up on fall/winter clothes (or until Jill comes)
I will not buy my kids any more unnecessary things...ok...I'll cut back...that seems much more realistic.
I'll do better about shopping sales and using coupons and ONLY buying things we need. I have a pantry FULL of food yet nothing to make for dinner.
I'll bring my lunch to work...the $15 lunches are starting to add up! (yes, $15...I work on the strip!)

It seems like someone always needs something...pictures at school, $$ for a field trip, yearbooks, birthday parties, graduations, weddings...ugggg...being an adult is not always fun!

CRAZY!

My life is hectic... Sometimes I literally feel like I am drowning in everyday tasks with no time to myself...
but then I see these three beautiful faces and it makes me realize that every exhausting and chaotic moment is worth it...I love this job I have...nothing is better than being mommy.

Random life...

I'm doing emergency laundry now...you know...when you HAVE to do a load or nobody will have clean socks in the morning?!
I swear it seems like my kids go through more clothes in a week than is even possible...I've caught on though...if it falls off the hanger they automatically throw it in the dirty clothes. The bad part of that is by the time I figure that out it has to be rewashed.
Brandon uses his socks as puppets and then throws them in a heap under his bed. This is particularly convenient when I'm doing laundry...as I ALWAYS look under the bed...

Alyssa's big dance show is next week. The long rehearsals start Monday...we'll have dance every day next week...and that means we get to drive to Boulder City every day next week too. Lucky us...

I've been putting Brandon to bed for two hours now...
in this time he has come down stairs countless times...
had to go to the bathroom
needed a drink
was afraid of the dark
had a bad dream (amazing, considering he had yet to even close his eyes)
needed a band-aid
saw eyes in his closet
wanted to call Grandma...
you get the point...I'm exhausted...it's been a long day...so off I go...to tuck him in one last time...or at least until he's out of bed again!

Reading to the Principal

Brandon was one of the students chosen from his class to read to the principal this morning. He read a book called "Fun at Camp". He did a great job! I remember when Alyssa got to read to the principal in kindergarten too.
He got a certificate and a GIANT candy bar as a treat...he was so proud of his reward! We are very proud of him.

Gotta give him some love...

The HARDEST part of me chaperoning the Carson City trip was leaving Gabriella and Brandon. Jeff took the week off to take care of them and I must say...he did a great job. The house was even cleaned when I got home!
I love you Binnie...for so many reasons that you will never even know!

Random Carson City Pictures

Playing a game

Touring Carson City

The girls were freaked out! This was on a tour of the Ponderosa mine in Virgina City

I think the highlight of the trip was the fact that I let Alyssa have Root Beer...I NEVER let the kids have soda

Carson City/Boy Crazy!

Caroling...Hannah Montana songs

Boys called all the time

Dragging the boys!

I sure have my hands full!

I knew Alyssa and her friends had started to notice boys...just had NO clue how boy crazy they really were...it's not just them...all the girls liked the boys.
Here are some pictures. They would knock on the boys door and when they answered the girls would literally drag them down the hall. It was nuts!
Then, when they figured out how to call room to room...well...let's just say the phone rang non stop...I had some popular girls!

Getting ready to board the train for a ride to Gold Hills.

HAD to post this one...this is Scotty. He lives in our neighborhood...he will ride his skateboard over to our house on a daily basis to say "hi" to Alyssa...he followed her around the entire trip too...much to Jeff's disgust!
