I'm annoyed!

It's Friday and all I can say is TGIF!!!
We have had auditors here at work for two weeks now and let me tell you...they annoy me! On top of all the things I have to do just for my normal everyday job they add a million other things to it.. It makes me nuts! (end rant)

Brandon is wrestling in Winnemucca next weekend. Alyssa, Gabriella and I will stay back here in Vegas so Alyssa won't miss school. Brandon and Jeff along with the coach, Kendal (the coach's son) and two of the high school boys will all be car pooling up after Brandon gets out of school on Friday. I really wanted to go since it is state...but I feel strongly that Alyssa not miss school...or Jack's birthday on Saturday :) It will be odd not having Brandon around for 3 days! I have NEVER been away from him...NEVER...so I think it will be a little hard for me. He will be with Jeff so that's a good thing.

We have wrestling in Overton tomorrow...I'll post pictures from that afterwards.

Better get to work....hope you have a great day!

Random Update

This week has been an exciting and busy week...but what else is new.
On Sunday Gabriella had her first taste of solid food. Right now it's just plain rice cereal...but still...here are a few pictures from that.

Jeff's ankle is doing a little better. He goes to the doctor again tomorrow so we will see what he has to say. Knowing my stubborn husband things will be "just fine"..he hates light duty and hates wearing his walking boot.

Alyssa and Brandon both got tagged reading this week. It's a program the school does for Nevada reading week. A teacher from the school calls home and if your child is reading they get a special treat at school the next day. Brandon got "caught" last night (oh the drama...when Alyssa didn't, she was "caught" tonight)

I guess not much else to report...hope you have a great day!

Can you guess what ones I added?

POSITION :

Mom, Mommy

JOB DESCRIPTION :

Long term, team players needed, for challenging,

permanent work in an

often chaotic environment. (haha, chaotic is often an understatement in our house!)

Candidates must possess excellent communication

and organizational skills and be willing to work

variable hours, which will include evenings and weekends

and frequent 24 hour shifts on call. (Most us are lucky enough to do this after working all day)

Some overnight travel required, including trips to

primitive camping sites on rainy weekends and endless sports tournaments in
far away cities! (Long road trips to Carson City on a tour bus filled with giggly 4th grades and endless conversations all based on Hannah Montana)

Travel expenses not reimbursed. (vacation time from work is also used)

Extensive courier duties also required.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

The rest of your life.

Must be willing to be hated, at least temporarily,

until someone needs $5. (or a new Webkin, Power Ranger, Hannah Montana Trading Cards or a trip to Build a Bear)

Must be willing to bite tongue repeatedly.

Also, must possess the physical stamina of a

pack mule

and be able to go from zero to 60 mph in three seconds flat

in case, this time, the screams from

the backyard are not someone just crying wolf. ("I'm OK")

Must be willing to face stimulating technical challenges,

such as small gadget repair, mysteriously sluggish toilets

and stuck zippers.

Must screen phone calls, maintain calendars and

coordinate production of multiple homework projects. (PTA, Sunday School and other Church activities as well)

Must have ability to plan and organize social gatherings

for clients of all ages and mental outlooks. (any ideas on a 10th birthday party...besides Build a bear...again!)

Must be a willing to be indispensable one minute,

an embarrassment the next. (FYI...DO NOT refer to Alyssa as Peanut at school)

Must handle assembly and product safety testing of a

half million cheap, plastic toys, and battery operated devices.

Must always hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

Must assume final, complete accountability for

the quality of the end product.

Responsibilities also include floor maintenance and

janitorial work throughout the facility. (endless mountains of laundry, grocery shopping, lunch prep, diaper changing, baths, hair style (must look like Miley Cyrus),animal care for the zoo of animals my family has...oh..it's endless!

POSSIBILITY FOR ADVANCEMENT & PROMOTION :

None.

Your job is to remain in the same position for years, without complaining,
constantly retraining and updating your skills,

so that those in your charge can ultimately surpass you

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE :

None required unfortunately.

On-the-job training offered on a continually exhausting basis.

WAGES AND COMPENSATION :

Get this! You pay them!

Offering frequent raises and bonuses.

A balloon payment is due when they turn 18 because

of the assumption that college will help them

become financially independent.

When you die, you give them whatever is left.

The oddest thing about this reverse-salary scheme is that

you actually enjoy it and wish you could only do more.

BENEFITS :

While no health or dental insurance, no pension,

no tuition reimbursement, no paid holidays and

no stock options are offered;

this job supplies limitless opportunities for personal growth,
unconditional love,

and free hugs and kisses for life if you play your cards right.

1st Tooth

Gabriella is starting to cut a tooth! Jeff just called me to share this exciting news...yet I'm not excited. Getting teeth means she is getting bigger and I'm not ready to let that go. Ok...deep breaths Laura...she is after all still only 4 months old.

It never ends...

Yesterday Jeff fell asleep in the computer chair...yes...I said computer chair. This happens a lot! Anyways, when he woke up and went to walk he fell (his leg was asleep) and hurt his ankle. Needless to say I had to leave work, pick up Brandon from school, who by the way was thrilled to see me and take Jeff to the doctors.
We spent the day at doctors offices...in the end it looks like it's only a severe sprain. He's in a walking boot now and will go back next Wednesday to see if he will need a good old fashion cast or if the boot will be ok. The doctor thinks he will need the boot for at least a month...that should be a lot of fun.
You'll be glad to know that even with all that fun Alyssa still made dance, Brandon still made wrestling and Jeff still went to work!

Today was a beautiful day! Alyssa had Jack over for the day so Jeff took the kids to the park and afterwards they were able to ride bikes. Here in Vegas we don't have much time for activities like this...in the summer it's just too hot.
Gabriella had a doctors appointment. She is doing well, she weighed in at 13 pounds. Looking back at Brandon's stats she is only 9oz's heavier than he was at this age. The doctor thinks she will be on the smaller side just like her big brother. Honestly, that will be just fine with me.
Hope you like these pictures...

Jack...

Alyssa has a special friend...his name is Jack. According to one of the older boys on Brandon's wrestling team Alyssa is Jack's girlfriend.
So anyways, yesterday as we were driving home from Pahrump Jeff got a call on his cell phone...it was Jack...looking for Alyssa. Hmmmmm....not sure if either one of us were ready for that. He's a super sweet boy and he has great parents...I guess it could be worse!!

Four Months

4 months old

Gene Simmons ain't got nothing on me!

Mmmmmmm, this tastes so good!

I just thought she looked so sweet!

This is what a winner looks like...

Today's wrestling tournament was in Pahrump...
It was an early day (we woke up at 4:30am) but it was a good day. Brandon took 1st place! Yeah, yeah we are proud of him when ever he tries his best, but I would be telling a lie if I said today was not an "extra" proud day. He had one pin and the other matches he won by points. He is getting so much better and seems to love it more and more as time goes.
To make it even more special today's tournament had a special podium that he got to stand on...#1!

Oh...and just in case you were wondering Brandon weighed in at a whopping 36 pounds today...the boys he wrestled all out weighed him by at least 5 pounds. He's a strong boy!

Happy Valentines Day

I'm not a huge fan of Valentines...I think I should be loved and appreciated every day of the year...but hey...

Let's see, it was a pretty eventful day.
Alyssa graduated from speech, she can now correctly say her "R"...yipee. The speech teacher (she is so wonderful) let Alyssa choose a friend and she brought Taco Bell for them. Alyssa choose her friend Jack (more on him at another time :) )
She also sang with the 4th grade class this morning at the school assembly. She informed me of this at about...oh...I would say about 5 minutes before school started. Thankfully my work is flexible so I was able to stay and watch.
Brandon had a great Valentines Day too. He announced to everyone today that I have a crush on daddy...and I'm in love with him too. It was cute.
Jeff and I enjoyed a nice dinner together too, most importantly we were alone. We sat and tried to think of the last date we have been on. Sadly it was our anniversary LAST January!! Pretty sad...we both agreed we need us time at least once a month.

Now the day is over...Jeff has once again fallen asleep on the couch and I'm too freaking tired to go wake him up...guess I'll just call his cell phone...yes, I am lazy!!

Sooo...

You have probably noticed I have posted a playlist of some of my favorite songs...maybe you find this annoying...but I like it.
Sheila has introduced me to Jeremy Camp and I think it's pretty safe to say he is one of my favorite singers, even Alyssa really likes him. He is a Christian artist (duh) so take a listen to some of his stuff...you may find you like him too. I feel like I can relate to a lot of his stuff, in fact Beyond Measure is a song that I listened to a lot after Gabriella was born...helped me to see that even in my sleepless confusion and feeling of being overwhelmed God was guiding me...all part of his plan for me.

FYI...Yes Lord is Brandon's favorite song...that's why I added that one...so come on Grandma...better learn it so next time he yells "sing with me grandma" you know the words!

Wearing me down...

This is a picture of my boss...really...it is! I don't "hate" my boss but man can she wear me down. I'm usually a happy person but after dealing with her all day...WOW! That's all I can say! I'm hoping she will retire soon and life for me here at work can be enjoyable...until then...I smile and think...it could be worse.

I must confess...

For the last 5 years I have given my heart to another man...I have shared many laughs and tears with him...I have helped him and guided him just as he has done the same for me. As hard as I try to break the cycle I always find him coming back...in fact....he's asleep in my bed now.

Slumber parties

Alyssa is having her friend over for the night...that means I too will be having a slumber party..complete with 10 board books, a plastic hammer and my very own webkin to snuggle with....life is good!

Feeling BLAH!

I'm here at work and I have to be honest...I really don't feel like doing anything...though my desk is piled high with plenty to do. I'm in a funk and I can't seem to shake it...I need a vacation!
Gabriella was up 4 times last night... when I called Jeff this morning at 10 she was still sleeping. What?! I think it was 4:30 the last time she was up to eat so that means she slept a 5 1/2 hour strech for Jeff and I could'nt even get 3. Her and I will have to have a little discussion about that.
Alyssa is trying to fill her social schedule for this weekend... actually she started last night with a sleep over request. I literally have a mountain bigger than Everest worth of laundry to do...not to mention everything else...I'm sure in the end she will win and we will have a sleepover.
We're signing Brandon up for T-ball. Don't worry, the season starts after wrestling ends (the end of next month) I'm really hoping those practices are only once a week and the games start after 7am!

Well...I can only "look" busy for so long so I guess I better go and get busy!

Big boy

Brandon wearing daddy's hat

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Just because she is so darn cute!

Already?!

The house is dark...Jeff is asleep on the couch and the kids are all in bed upstairs. I have all the lights in the house off except a small one over my washer and dryer in the kitchen. I'm in the kitchen making lunches and enjoying the quiet...I turn around and out of nowhere I see him...standing in the darkness...he's quiet at first...I take a step towards him...and then it happened...he started to recite his Christmas wish list...ALREADY!!!

I'm cleaning...

really...I am! Well, at least I should be.
We just got home from church, Jeff is sleeping, Brandon is having lunch, Alyssa is at a friends playing for the day and Gabriella is fighting a nap...I am surfing the net hoping the house will clean itself!
I decided to give up Starbucks for Lent...now...some of you are thinking "big deal" and if you are...well, you just don't know about my deep, DEEP love for it. As I sat in church I did a mental list of things I could possibly give up...several things came to mind...work, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping...now, you know all of these are on my list of absolute favorite things to do (NOT) so it just had to be Starbucks. I know it seems like a small price considering what God gave us...but hey, it's the best I can do!
Well, the fight is over...Gabriella is officially napping..so I guess I better officially be cleaning!

Random

It's been a busy week...

Gabriella laughed for the first time today! Of course I was here at work, but Jeff called so I could hear her. Daddy was getting her tummy...and I guess that's pretty funny!

For the first time in a long time Brandon does not have wrestling tomorrow morning...just what will I do with all that extra time?? Oh yeah...clean.
Alyssa is going with a friend to see the Hannah Montana movie on IMAX and then she will be staying the night with her. Looks like Brandon and I will have a slumber party tomorrow night too. Nothing is better than sleeping with a wiggly 5 year old and a half dozen large plastic transformers!

I recieved an email from Alene at church...looks like Sheila and I will once again be coordinating Holyland Adventure this year. (I could have sworn after last year the two of us said "never again") Oh yeah...and the Easter Angel breakfast. I remind myself...this is my calling...

Brandon is doing well in school. They are doing this reading deputy program. Every week they get a list of words that they have to read, each week they are tested if they pass they get a sticker. After 5 stickers they get a deputy badge. He is on list 4 now...yeah Brandon!

Alyssa is going on an oceanography trip at the end of March to Dana Point, CA. It's a program that the 4th grade is offering. It sounds like a lot of fun and a great opportunity.

I guess that's about it...Jeff and I are both doing good. Keeping busy with the kids and work. I do have to say the two of us make a great team!
