Supporting Team GV

Even though Brandon didn't go and compete in the Western Regionals last week I'm still proud of our Team.
Once again we dominated. Check out Team GV's link to the right.

I can't wait for next year when Brandon and Jeff head that way.

Good job Team GV!!

Lord of the Dance

On Sunday I took Alyssa and her friend, Elizabeth to see Lord of the Dance.
This is a show full of dancing (DUH) with the main dancing being Irish. Alyssa loves Irish. It's hands down her favorite dance class. She told me last night after the show that she was going to dance with them one day. I tell ya...she may just be right.

Rendom things...

I bring you the Corsaro Family...week in review.

We've been visiting the library a lot lately. Gabriella is very much into picking her own books, she can not be influenced.

I just liked this picture cause Gaby looks like she's an alien...look at her eyes. Gabriella loves to play with her and Gaby is a good sport about it.

Brandon has been busy fighting "wars"...I have been busy picking up Nerf bullets.

Brandon started at Tap Out on Monday. He has taken Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Muy Thai and wrestling classes. He loves going! Here he is in his Gi. The thing is HUGE on him but after washing it in HOT water last night it's fitting much better today. If anyone can shrink clothes...it's me! :)
Jeff is taking it today to have the patches sewn on. Brandon thinks he's pretty cool.

Here he is giving you his best MMA stance..

This picture is from a few weeks ago, but I liked it. Alyssa will be doing the summer dance intensive in a few weeks. She's excited...thanks Grandma!

I can't believe in 2 weeks this kid will be in Jr. High...
I'm going to need a lot of tissues!

Happy Father Day

I've said this a bunch of times, my kids have a great daddy.
He sure can make me crazy at times but I know no matter what I can count on him.
Let me brag on him for a minute. Jeff works the night shift. 9:30pm to 6am. When he gets home in the morning 5 out of 7 of these days he's responsible for taking care of the kids. He does this by choice and simply for the fact that we never wanted to rely on a daycare to raise our kids. He coaches on Brandon's wrestling team 4 days a week and helps out at Alyssa dance studio. He does all dentist and orthodontist appointments as well as many sick/well doctor visits. He taxis to and from school and to various play dates. He never misses a foot ball game, wrestling tournament, dance recital, choir performance or award ceremony. He loves us all and we are so grateful for him.

On that note. This year I asked the kids random questions about daddy. I thought it would be fun to see what they thought of daddy.

1. Q: Describe Daddy

A: Brandon= I don't know what you mean...
Mommy= tell me about daddy
Brandon= He has brown skin and black hair. He also has hair on his face

Alyssa= Fun, loving, caring and helpful

2. Q: How old is daddy?

B=34
A=33

3. Q: What's your favorite thing about daddy?

B= He's fun! He lets me do dangerous sports like MMA (mixed martial arts)
A= He tickles me...
I have a lot of favorite things...He takes me out for fun days.

4. Q: What is daddy's favorite things to do?

B= Play with me, Alyssa and Gabriella
A=Play the Wii with us and watch wrestling videos

5. What does daddy do when he's not taking care of you?

B= Sleeping
A= Watching TV and sleeping

6. Q; What's daddy’s favorite animal?

B= Jane...
Me= Jane (aka Gabriella) is not an animal
B= he laughs...oh, hhhmmmm a snake
A= Snake and rats too

7. Q: I love daddy because...

B= He's FUN! and he's my favorite daddy
A= because he's the greatest daddy ever!

Every once in awhile when I was asking the kids these questions Gabriella would wander by. She would offer up the occasional "crazy daddy" and run off.
I think Gabriella pretty much sums it up in those two words. He is a crazy daddy, but man oh man is he a good one!

More wrestling...

When other teams have been done wrestling for months, Team GV is still at it!
A lot of the boys are heading out tomorrow for western regionals in Idaho. We are not going this year. (bummer) Good luck guys, kick some butt and show them all what Team NV is all about.
On another note, Brandon will start wrestling classes next week at Tap Out. If you are familiar will anything MMA (mixed martial arts) you have heard this name before.
The plan is he will take classes there for the next few months and than in the fall pick back up with Green Valley. It should do him good to workout with other kids in a different environment. He is very excited.

Exciting News...

Alyssa is going to be a part of the Nutcracker again this year!
She received a letter yesterday from Miss Amy (owner of the Boulder City Ballet Company) asking her to join the cast.
This is very exciting as not everyone was asked. I'm not sure what roll she will dance, we'll find out sometime next month.
She will be taking yet another ballet class to prepare her for it as well.
I love the Nutcracker and I know Alyssa does as well.

20 months old...

No, I am not that mom who refers to my child’s age in months for years. (ok, so maybe I am...a little)
Yesterday marked Gabriella's 20 month birthday. I say this all the time, but I can't believe she is 20 months old already. Time really does pass by entirely too fast.
Gabriella has an extensive vocabulary. She can pretty much communicate all here wants with words now, she even puts words together. "Good bye Gamma...Love you",
"crazy daddy" and "carry you" are a few of her most used phrases. She knows all the family members by name. Julie, Aunt Joe (aka Aunt Jill), Lexi, RyRy, daddy, Alyssa, Buddy ( she will not call him Brandon regardless of how hard we try)
She's loves our cats and dogs, especially Gaby. She loves to curl up with Gaby.
She loves bubble baths and playing with her rubber ducks.
She loves to eat...EvErYtHiNg..yet, still she weighs just 20 pounds. Wish I had her metabolism!
She use to be all about mommy, but recently has become more of a daddy’s girl. Truth be told, she would leave us both in the dust for her sissy, Wissa.
Though she is starting to test the waters of independence, she still is (for the most part) the sweetest little girl around. We love you Gabriella...all the way to the moon and back!

Daddy and Brandon...

I love these guys!

Gabriella loves "nacks"

It's no secret that my Gabriella loves to eat. Now that she is able to express her desires she is always coming and asking for a "nack"...
her current favorite is chocolate teddy grahams...can you tell?!

Dance Show Pictures

Alyssa and Mr. Jim. He's the best dance instructor with years of dance experience. I sure hope she gets him next year too.

The three musketeers. These girls are amazing dancers!

In her tap outfit

I can't believe another year of dance classes have come and gone...
It's been a crazy week but we made it through. The show was fantastic and Alyssa did a great job. The poor girl got sick on Wednesday but danced through all of her shows like a trooper.
Great job, Alyssa!! Watching you dance makes me so proud...you are a beautiful dancer!

PS. I have to take more pictures in her other costumes...don't worry. I'll do it.

D.A.R.E. Graduation

Alyssa graduated from the DARE program at school last Friday. The course was 8 weeks long. It touched on the obvious topics of drug and alcohol abuse as well as peer pressure. Her instructor was a friend of my families from several years ago so it was fun to see him again. Remember Officer Rico Jill??
I'm pretty proud of Alyssa. I hope she takes what she learned in this program and carries it with her in the years to come.

well...

Below I have posted videos form Alyssa's dance recital.
This years show is called "Don't Stop The Music". It features music from popular Broadway shows as well as movies. As usual it was a fantastic show.

I do realize my video quality leaves a lot to be desired, but I promise you Alyssa is there. We weren't able to get good seats due to the fact that we were running late. (huge surprise, huh?!) The actual show opens tomorrow night.

I can't believe another dance year has come and gone. The time literally flies by. Gabriella will be dancing before we know it!
Watching Alyssa tonight was great, it made all the money we shell out, not to mention my lack of sanity as I raced 4 nights a week from work directly to dance classes all well worth it.

We all are so proud of you Peanut! You're a beautiful dancer.

Alyssa got a love note...

When I came home from a long and exhausting day at work today I noticed a note sticking out of the front door.

This is what it said...

I am aware that the picture is sideways...sorry.
Alyssa was mortified...partly because her daddy and brother were giving her such a hard time about it. Me on the other hand...though I think she is waayyy too young for this kind of stuff, I have to give the kid props. Ahhh, to be young again!

I'm at a loss for words...

This boy...

Good Golly

The time has come...

My once sweet and laid back baby has become demanding and assertive.
Yes folks, we are entering the "terrible twos" stage.
I hate to call it that. Really, it's not all that terrible...just a little more work for us as she tests her limits and reacts when her desires are not always met.

On the other side of the spectrum we have Alyssa.
When she's not rolling her eyes and mumbling under her breath she's still a great kid. She is entering the "parents are stupid" phase of her life. I'm trying to be understanding and cool...
not sure how that's working out for me though.

I fear my girls are going to set Jeff and I into a frenzy. Both girls discovering who they are and reaching out to test their limits...and in the middle we have BrAnDoN!! We're holding on and preparing for the storm that I know is coming. Wish us luck!

This man...

This man is the source of many of my headaches. He is the love of my life. He makes me crazy. He's a wonderful father. He makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes. He's a hard worker. He tries, but he can not dress the girls. He takes the time to make little piggy tails in Gabriella's hair and has mastered his bun hairstyle.
He's hopeless when it comes to housework. He's (for the most part) patient with me.
He's a horrible backseat driver. His smile makes my heart flutter.

I love you Jeffrey, even when you're driving me batty!

Family Fun Night

Gabriella got her hand painted. I tried to get her face painted like a kitty but she was not having it!

Alyssa and Laney on the water slide.

Last night was family fun night at our church. They filled the fellowship hall with bouncy houses and water slides. They also had face painting. Brandon decided to stay with daddy and go to the wrestling duels that were being held at Green Valley. (man...I can not wait for wrestling season to begin again!)
Alyssa brought one of her friends, Laney. The girls had a great time!

Keeping it real...

This about sums up my feelings on today...
hoping for a better, more relaxing day tomorrow.
